POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing both technical and administrative support for new program launches and ongoing production activities. This role leads engineering initiatives and works closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customer representatives to ensure successful tooling, process development, and overall program execution.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Degree in Engineering or a comparable combination of education and relevant experience
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in automotive welded assemblies within a Manufacturing Engineering environment

 

Strong understanding of:

  • Project management and production process planning
  • Cost estimating, analysis and quoting
  • APQP methodologies and PFMEA processes

 

Technical skills:

  • Working knowledge of CAD software
  • Ability to travel internationally to support program requirements

 

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid analytical, mathematical, and technical aptitude
  • Experience with tandem, transfer, and progressive dies, along with assembly equipment considered an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation abilities

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Engineering & Program Support

  • Prepare reports, summaries, and documentation related to engineering changes and project tracking
  • Lead structured problem-solving activities (8D), PFMEA updates, and corrective action initiatives
  • Support all stages of program development including planning, feasibility, design, build, try-out, launch, and final approval
  • Generate drawings, material requisitions, and technical specifications as required
  • Develop manufacturing process concepts and tooling designs to meet production and quality targets
  • Prepare cost estimates for piece pricing, tooling, and capital expenditures
  • Conduct manufacturing feasibility assessments and recommend design or process improvements

 

Continuous Improvement & Technical Leadership

  • Identify and recommend improvements related to productivity, quality, and operational systems
  • Support tooling programs from prototype through production launch and final sign-off
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams on engineering changes, quality enhancements, and cost-reduction initiatives
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, including bills of materials and project status updates
