Operations Lead

The primary responsibility of the Operations Lead is to direct the warehouse laborers and temporary warehouse laborers to provide priorities and resolve conflicts to efficiently fulfill orders on a daily basis. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Operations Lead will oversee shipping, picking and receiving functions within the warehouse. Shipping duties include supervising accurate labeling and auditing orders, load trucks and processing of BOL. Receiving duties include; unloading containers, put away product, reconciling paperwork and maintaining an accurate inventory. Picking includes accurate picking of all orders in full and on time. This position is offered on a contract basis with a minimum commitment of 4 weeks.

Shift Schedule: Days ( 6am – 3pm )

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute daily, weekly and monthly shift activities as required to provide timely fulfillment and shipping of all orders
  • Assist in the management of accurate unloading and put away of product in a timely basis to ensure containers are returned without additional charges and are 100% accurate
  • Assist in the management of the outbound loading of all orders to ensure on time and in full shipments, while working closely with traffic supervisor to complete efficiently and accurately including task assignment to other staff through the WMS
  • Manage the temporary staffing plans on a daily basis to ensure adequate resources are available to execute the necessary activities (production, unloading containers, etc.), while optimizing productivity and costs with a problem-solving positive attitude
  • Ensure costs within budget approved Director of Distribution are met
  • Assist in maintaining and enforcing appropriate policies and procedures to ensure accurate information is recorded in Oracle in a timely manner
  • Analyze all shift activities and propose cost savings improvements
  • Provide and support a safe work environment, and enforce all company and governmental safety rules and policies
  • Display good judgement regarding communication to appropriate parties in terms of coaching/training/incident reporting/escalation to the operations manager
  • Other duties may be assigned up to and including working on floor to ship on time and in full

 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or comparable experience preferred
  • 3-5 years managing multiple functions within a manufacturing or distribution facility, specifically coordinating order picking and stock-keeping functions
  • 2 years minimum lead or supervisor experience
  • 2 years minimum operating warehouse equipment including order picker. Stand up reach and sit down experience with swing reach experience a plus
